Retour à Reims (Fragments), by Jean-Gabriel Périot, is a film adaptation of the French sociologist and philosopher Didier Eribon’s book of the same name. In this documentary, we explore the political history of French workers and how they moved from the Communist Party to the extreme right. Based on an analysis of his own family, Didier Eribon tries to understand this bifurcation and its consequences.
The film will be followed by an interview with Jean-Philippe Pleau, sociologist, and host of the ICI Première program Réfléchir à voix haute. An exchange with the public will follow. Félix Morin, a teacher at the Cégep de Sherbrooke’s Techniques d’éducation à l’enfance and a master’s student in Foundations of Education at UQAM, will host the event.
