Each year, the Festival offers an opportunity for cinema professionals (ranging from beginners to experts) to meet in a stimulating environment and engage in a whole host of exciting and formative activities.
Whether it be professional development, master classes, roundtable discussions, conferences or networking events, the Festival offers a space to allow industry professionals to share expertise, develop skills and exchange and debate on wide-ranging issues.
The Festival is also an opportunity to meet a variety of directors from across the globe who come to the FCMS to share their love of cinema and introduce us to their work.
For its 9th edition, the Festival invites you to a day entirely dedicated to film professionals, divided into two parts. Register now for one or all activities, using the form at the bottom of the page, before April 1st at 5:00 pm.
Program | April 8, 2022 | Foyer of the Centre culturel de l’Université de Sherbrooke
10 to 11:30 a.m. | Panel Pro
In collaboration with the Bureau Estrien de l’Audiovisuel et du Multimédia (BEAM) and the Conseil de la culture de l’Estrie (CCE)
What issues do production teams face when it comes to the workforce? Is there a lack of professionals? What expertise is available? How can we attract specialized workers to the region?
These are the subjects that the panellists will address:
- Laurent Allaire | Producer, Chasseurs Films
- Jocelyn Simard | Camera Operator
- Émilie Mercier | Production Manager
- Myriam Leblond | Director and member of BEAM’s Board of Directors
- Mélodie Turcotte | La Fabrique culturelle Estrie-Montérégie
11:40 a.m. to 1 p.m. | Lunch Pro
Participants are invited to enjoy a buffet lunch while networking with other professionals from the film community and the region.
In addition, CFAK’s Ciné-Histoire team will be on hand at the Centre culturel de l’Université de Sherbrooke. Participants will have the chance to do their pitch during live interviews.
If you would like to join in the networking activity following the lunch, the interviews heard and given will provide you with an excellent preamble. We recommend that you stay for lunch with us!
There is a $10 fee for the Lunch Pro.
1 to 2:30 p.m. | Networking Activity
The FCMS PRO networking activity will be held in the form of speed dating. This meeting session aims to facilitate the first contact between partners and professionals involved in the film industry. Take advantage of this opportunity to imagine future collaborations and discuss forthcoming projects!
3:30 p.m. | Conference with Michel Marc Bouchard (at the Maison du Cinéma)
A one-on-one session hosted by Angèle Séguin.
The conversation will focus on the advantages and pitfalls of when an original author adapts their work for the screen. Since it’s the same writer, the transition from one form to another may seem simple at first, but the reality, influenced by the film director’s vision and the production’s needs, can be quite different. Having completed several adaptations of his own works, Michel Marc Bouchard shares his experience and idea behind the screenwriting process with you.
FCMS PRO participants will have the chance to get a free ticket for this activity (registration required).
The registration period is over.
