The FCMS is delighted to announce that two of its collaborators will be offering grants as part of the regional competition:
The Du Levant film equipment rental agency will be offering an equipment rental bursary worth $6,000 to the director of the winning film of the Prix-Pierre-Javaux Meilleur court métrage de l’Estrie.
The post-production company Ludifilm will be offering a Service Grant worth $1,760 to the director of the winning film of the Prix-Pierre-Javaux Meilleur court métrage de l’Estrie.
Some films are not suitable for children.

Sondès Allal Membre du jury | Coordonnatrice du PIC | Universite de sherbrooke
Sondès Allal is coordinator of the Community Intervention Program at the École de gestion de l'Université de Sherbrooke. A very active citizen in the community, she initiated, among other things, the FCMS interdisciplinary screening-debate space at the Université de Sherbrooke, which she organized and hosted for 5 years. For her, cinema is a major tool for awareness-raising and education, and a precious vehicle for dialogue that allows a plurality of perspectives.

Réjean Hébert Membre du jury | Professeur
Dr. Réjean Hébert is a geriatrician and professor emeritus at the Université de Sherbrooke. He was dean of the Université de Sherbrooke's Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences from 2004 to 2010 and of the Université de Montréal's School of Public Health (ESPUM) from 2017 to 2019. He founded the Research Centre on Aging at the Sherbrooke Geriatric University Institute. From 2012 to 2014, he was MNA for Saint-François and Minister of Health and Social Services, as well as Minister responsible for Seniors and the Estrie region.

Marie-Hélène Panisset Réalisatrice et scénariste | Les films de l'hydre
Trained in ballet, art history and communication, Marie-Hélène began her career by directing short dance films. In 2010, she co-directed a first dramatic feature entitled Lucidité passagère and then devoted herself to documentary, touching subjects of immigration and sexual diversity. Nominated at the Academy Awards in 2019 for having produced the short film Marguerite, the pandemic allowed her to perfect her art of filming the performing arts through a series of 9 half-hours of dance and music. Chiennes de faïence, her dramatic feature as solo director will be opening at this year’s Festival Cinéma du monde in Sherbrooke.

Sarah Rocheville Membre du jury | Écrivaine et professeure | Université de Sherbrooke
Sarah Rocheville is a writer and a tenured professor of literature at the University of Sherbrooke. She has published Tu vis à Paris, je pense (Varia, 2023), Go West, Gloria (Leméac, 2014, Alfred-desRochers Prize), as well as the essay Vingt-et-une études de voix - Sur Louis-René des Forêts (VLB, 2009). She leads the interdisciplinary research group Qu’est-ce qu’une vie humaine – désormais ? Enjeux éthiques des écritures contemporaines. She regularly publishes short stories and articles in Quebec and French journals dedicated to the connections between literature, cinema and philosophy.

Nadia Fortin Réalisatrice et productrice
Nadia Fortin began her career by learning to act. She went on to complete post-graduate studies in social work. Sensitive to human beings, she combined her talents to produce documentaries and fictional works, mainly on the theme of social issues. Nadia has no taboo subjects and loves to reach out to others. She believes in the capacity of each individual and tries to give a voice to people who are seldom heard. Nadia Fortin is deeply involved in the vulnerable community.

Jonathan Goyette Auteur, scénariste et réalisateur
Jonathan Goyette graduated from INIS in documentary directing and scriptwriting and then made his way through the Kino movement. He has scripted, directed, edited, and self-produced several independent short films, some of which have been selected for festivals such as Cinéma sous les étoiles and Image et Nation. He is interested in the hybrid of cinematographic forms as a way of examining the relationship between humans and their environment. I'm not a machine juxtaposes documentary and experimental images to let viewers experience the interiority of an ultramarathon runner.

Danika Cormier Directrice artistique et co-réalisatrice
Danika graduated from the dance programs at Cégep de Sherbrooke and Concordia University. In 2013, she began her career, dividing her time between choreography, performance, and teaching contemporary dance.Today, she focuses on creating intergenerational events, where she uses both words and movement. She embraces the idea that creation can be a space for personal growth and a tool for well-being. A poet of movement, a choreographer of words, a mother and artist, a cultivator of wonder… For Danika, creation is not only a way of life but also a mission.

Pierre-Luc Racine Réalisateur, scénariste, monteur, coloriste et directeur photo
Pierre-Luc Racine is passionate about narrative art in all its forms. Director, cinematographer, editor, colorist and musician: his playground is the human in all its complexity. He has produced over a hundred works, ranging from documentaries and fiction series to portraits, video poetry and music videos.

Marie-Lou Béland Réalisatrice, monteuse et cinéaste
With an atypical background, Marie-Lou Béland began her career in filmmaking with passion and as a self-taught. Originally trained as a specialized educator, she returned to school to complete a BAC in cinema at UQAM. Her training in special education also colored her projects, her subjects, her desire to tell people's stories, and her desire to make films that will have an impact on society, and perhaps change things for the better. Aaron Timizar Réalisateur et directeur photo
Aaron Timizar (cinematographer, director): From an early age, Aaron has been making videos for the sheer joy of it. His passion for his art has grown steadily over the years. A talented cinematographer, he distinguishes himself by his ability to infuse each project with a unique aesthetic, perfectly reflecting its visual identity.

Sébastien Croteau Réalisateur | L'inconnu dans le noir
Sébastien Croteau is an independent filmmaker (director, producer and screenwriter) known as L’inconnu dans le noir. He began his professional artistic career in theater. He graduated from INIS-Montreal in 2006 as a film director and then he left for Belgium to perfect his technique at the IAD in 2007. In 2017, he founded his own production company: Les Productions de L'Inconnu dans le Noir. In parallel, Sébastien produces several directors. He has been developing several digital art and video projection.

Antoine Boulanger Réalisateur et scénariste | Whisky-Roméo
Antoine Boulanger is an instinctive, image-driven director. Born in Sherbrooke, he discovered cinema at the age of 11. It wasn't a choice, but an impulse. Self-taught, he learned alongside local mentors before forging his own vision by shooting relentlessly. Later, he refined his approach at Concordia University, not to learn, but to feed his creative fire. His films are quests for ideals in motion, where opposing characters meet - sometimes in harmony, often in conflict. Nature is omnipresent, and aerospace references resonate like a call to infinity.
