The FCMS’s 11th edition comes to an end with the announcement of our competition winners :

– Cercle d’or Meilleur long métrage de fiction (Best Feature Film – Fiction)
– Cercle d’or Meilleur documentaire (Best Feature Film – Documentary), presented by TV5
– Prix Coup de coeur du public (People’s Choice Award), presented by Radio-Canada

Pierre Curzi

Pierre Curzi is an actor who has appeared in a number of significant Quebec films, including Les Plouffe, Maria Chapdelaine (Gilles Carle), Le déclin de l'empire américain and Les invasions barbares (Denys Arcand). He co-authored Pouvoir intime with Yves Simoneau (nominated for best screenplay at the 1987 Genie Awards) and was part of several successful series, including Les filles de Caleb, Marguerite Volant and Virginie. Nathalie Plaat

Nathalie Plaat is a clinical psychologist, author, and columnist for Le Devoir newspaper. She also co-created Ciné-Moi, a Festival cinéma du monde de Sherbrooke activity that combines mental health and cinema. She is currently pursuing doctoral studies at the CERC at the Université de Sherbrooke. In 2023, Somme toute/Le Devoir published her book Chroniques d'une main tendue - Courtepointes et autres récits de soi. Faced with our modern-day psychological challenges, she invites us to move away from the standard pathological analysis of the human condition.

Samuel Gagnon

Samuel started out as a film distributor for Aska Films where he spent 10 years distributing films by Imamura, Elia Suleiman, Wong Kar-Wai and many others. He then turned to production, producing Karim Hussein's Ascension (Sitges - Best Film New Vision) and Claude Gagnon's Revival Blues. Claude Gagnon's Kamataki also won a Special Mention from the Jury at the Berlin International Film Festival. The film receives two Jutra nominations, including one for Best Director. He also produces short films by Denis Côté, Faouzi Bensaidi and Ève Saint-Louis. He is a member of ACE Producers.

During her 25 years as a journalist at La Tribune, Sonia Bolduc has always been captivated by people - their relationship to each other and their life quests. Johane Lelièvre

Originally from Gaspésie, Johane Lelièvre has lived in Estrie for more than 20 years. Because of her role as a training advisor at the University of Sherbrooke, she enjoys meeting people from different backgrounds and cultures. Endowed with an artistic sensitivity that awakens emotions and reflection, this painter is also a great film buff. Her perception of the world transformed during her studies, when she discovered Kieslowski's trilogy by chance. She also plays an extra in some productions, which allows her to experience the seventh art in other facets.
