IN PRESENCE OF THE DIRECTOR ON SUNDAY, APRIL 5 Best documentary – Fine Arts Film Festivals (États-Unis) – 2019 Official selection | International Festival of Film on Art (Canada) – 2019 Mathieu Collette, a passionate blacksmith, has renovated an abandoned heritage building belonging to City of Montreal to create a blacksmithing school. Sixteen years later, after having transformed it into an internationally renowned transmission center fpr living heritage, Mathieu is threatened with eviction for obscure administrative reasons, on the very year the City celebrates its 375th anniversary. What can justify ousting one of the last blacksmiths in Quebec who carries a project of such social and patrimonial interest? Shot over several years, this documentary recounts Les Forges de Montréal’s fight against the disappearance of part of our collective memory. The film will be preceded by the short film The Assailant, by the same director.
