Featuring director Alfonso Maiorana (Goddess of Slide: The Forgotten Story of Ellen McIlwaine), Catherine Viau, producer and Head of Film Programming at the FCMS, and Audrey Canalès, professor of audiovisual translation at the Université de Sherbrooke, this discussion will examine how cinema can serve as a powerful catalyst for community building and a meaningful learning tool for translation.

Alfonso Maiorana (DGC), is an award-winning Canadian filmmaker and cinematographer with over 30 years of experience in the film industry. He began his career in Montreal writing /directing music videos and independent short films. Some of his more personal projects that have had a successful festival run include; The Big World, which premiered at the Montreal International Film festival and Annabelle at the Sao Paulo International Film Festival.
