La nuit des Krampus
On an alpine winter night, Saint-Nicolas visits the children accompanied by frightening creatures, the Krampus. For centuries, these monsters have been responsible for disciplining children to ensure good behavior in the coming year. Is the Krampus good or bad? Holder of a Bachelor’s Degree in Communication (Film Major) from UQAM, Pierre-Yves Beaulieu then worked in multimedia. For a few years, he has lived as a digital nomad, traveling mainly throughout Europe and Asia. Inspired by his journeys, encounters and his curiosity for a variety of topics, he completed a Documentary program (Director’s Track) at INIS in 2017.

Mohamed is deeply shaken when his oldest son Malik returns home after a long journey with a mysterious new wife. Tension between father and son rises over three days until reaching a breaking point. Tunisian-American writer/director Meryam Joobeur is a graduate of Mel Hoppenheim School of Cinema in Montréal. She is currently developing three feature films including the feature version of ‘Brotherhood’ and has participated in the Berlinale Talent Lab (2016) TIFF Talent Lab (2016) and the Rawi Screenwriter’s Lab (2016).

Daniel is on a mission to scatter his mother’s ashes and Claude is hoping for her period to make a miraculous return. A modern tale that captures the fever dream of a first voyage to the moon. Canadian filmmaker based in Montreal (Quebec), Mélanie Charbonneau directs films, web series and commercials. Her last short film, Single, was selected in many festivals including Namur, Fantasia, Cambridge, Off-Courts Trouville and Bayou. In 2018, Mélanie will film her first feature, Fabulous, produced by Go Films.
Lola & Claire
FCTMN Award – Prends ça court! 2018 Lola & Claire tells the story of the unconditional love between Claire, a young woman living in a paralyzed body and Lola, her little sister. One lives in immobility and the other in movement. It’s Lola’s birthday and the young girl realizes that Claire’s days are numbered. She will do whatever it takes to free her big sister. Elisabeth Desbiens is a director based in Montreal. She studied dance and cinema. Her films have been selected in several festivals around the world, including SAPPORO in Japan, MashROME in Italy, Rendez-vous du Cinéma Québécois and Regard International Short Film Festival in Saguenay. She is the recipient of the SODEC / SARTEC Award for the adaptation of the poetry collection Était une bête in the screenwriting contest Cours écrire ton court.
