Allah n’est pas obligé
Birahima, un orphelin guinéen d’une dizaine d’années, raconte avec l’aide de quatre dictionnaires et beaucoup d’ironie comment il est précipité dans la guerre tribale quand il tente de rejoindre sa tante au Libéria. Yacouba, une crapule qui l’ accompagne, le convainc de devenir enfant soldat, pendant que lui s’installe comme grigriman et féticheur parmi les combattants. En plein chaos, baladé entre les nombreuses factions ennemies, Birahima grandit en accéléré et apprend à se méfier des histoires qu’on lui raconte.
Allah Is Not Obliged
Birahima, a Guinean orphan of only ten years of age, tells the story of how he became a child soldier when he tried to join his aunt in Liberia with the help of four dictionaries and heavy irony. Yacouba, a scoundrel who accompanies him, convinces him to become a child soldier, while he sets himself up as a grigriman, or fetish priest, among the fighters. In the midst of chaos, tossed between numerous enemy factions, Birahima grows up quickly and learns to distrust the stories he is told.

Au-delà de la lumière
En l’absence de son mari, qui travaille en Allemagne, l’infirmière Prabha partage son appartement de Mumbai avec Anu, une jeune collègue qui vit une histoire d’amour clandestine avec Shiaz, un musulman de son âge. Deux événements auront pour effet de rapprocher la stricte Prabha de la délurée et insouciante Anu. D’abord, l’arrivée d’un colis contenant un autocuiseur envoyé d’Allemagne. Ensuite, un voyage impromptu des deux colocataires dans le village natal d’une consoeur de travail, évincée de son logement par des promoteurs immobiliers. Durant ce calme séjour au bord de la mer, Anu pourra enfin faire l’amour avec Shiaz, qui l’a discrètement suivie là-bas. Et Prabha, faire enfin la paix avec son passé.
