PREMIÈRE CANADIENNE Prix spécial HFPA – Festival de film de Venise – 2021Biennale College du festival de Venise – 2021 Agatha et son fils de 36 ans, Leonidas, vivent sous le même toit dans une relation fusionnelle. Agatha ne s’est jamais remariée après la mort de son mari et Leonidas n’ose pas quitter le nid familial. Un jour, Agatha se réveille soudainement dans le corps d’une petite fille. Un esprit de 74 ans se retrouve alors dans un corps de huit ans. Après avoir coupé tous les liens avec l’extérieur pour préserver les apparences, la seule solution possible devant cette situation sera de contacter la sœur de 38 ans de Leonidas. Bien qu’elle vole de ses propres ailes depuis longtemps, elle devra revenir au bercail afin de panser des plaies restées ouvertes.

One day, Agatha suddenly wakes up in the body of a little girl: as herself, but with eight years old. The only possible solution after having cut off all ties with the outside world for fear of giving explanations, will be to call Elisa (38), Agatha’s eldest daughter, who despite having become independent a long time ago, will return to the family home to repair wounds that remain open.

As the animals grow, all three form an inseparable bond, but their world soon collapses when their secret idyll is discovered. The lion is captured and sent to a travelling circus and the wolf is taken by scientists for research. The wolf is determined to find his lion brother and to bring their family back together. Once reunited, they undertake an extraordinary adventure across Canada against all odds to find Alma.

Durant la journée, Jakob Fabian travaille dans le département de publicité d’une fabrique de cigarettes. Le soir venu, il fait la tournée des bars, bordels et studios d’artistes en compagnie de son riche comparse, Labude. Lorsqu’il rencontre la très assurée Cornelia, il réussit à se défaire de son pessimisme pour un court instant alors qu’il tombe amoureux de cette dernière. Mais par la suite, il perd son emploi lors d’une vague de licenciements pendant que Cornelia continue sa carrière d’actrice sous la protection de son bienfaiteur et admirateur. Un arrangement qui ne plait pas du tout à Fabian, mais, comme il découvrira, il n’y a pas que son propre monde qui est en train de s’effondrer.

But then he too falls victim to the great wave of layoffs, while Cornelia makes a career as an actress thanks to her boss and admirer. An arrangement that Fabian finds difficult to come to terms with. But it’s not just his world that is falling apart…
