Come and attend the screening of the short film Un soir d’Équinoxe, directed by Mario Janelle.
The screening will be followed by a discussion with director Mario Janelle, screenwriter Dr. Chicoine, and psychologist Nathalie Plaat.
Film synopsis:
A dive into the heart of a family tragedy inspired by real events. The dilemma of a young boy forced to kill his parents to save his siblings, confronted with the manipulations of a father under the influence of esoteric ideologies.

Mario Janelle Cinéaste, directeur de la photographie et scénariste
Renowned for his creative vision and precision, he has contributed to a wide variety of productions, including feature films, documentaries, television series, and live shows. Among his most notable projects are his work as director of photography on major productions such as the award-winning documentary Surviving Progress and the biopic Winnie. Through Un soir d'Équinoxe, he expresses his desire to revisit the codes of direct cinema while questioning belief systems.

Jean-Francois Chicoine Coscénariste / pédiatre | Le monde est ailleurs/ CHU Sainte-Justine
Jean-François Chicoine is a pediatrician at Sainte-Justine University Hospital Center, associate professor in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Montreal, member of the Paris Medical Association, and scientific director of Le monde est ailleurs. A clinician specializing in international health and a teacher passionate about the interface between culture and science, his career as an educator, author, and media host is complemented by his writing of essays such as Le bébé et l'eau du bain (2006), Une histoire de l'Histoire de Sainte-Justine (2024), Génération anxieuse - la préface (2025), and television documentaries, mostly on the health and rights…

Nathalie Plaat Psychologue, chroniqueuse et autrice
Nathalie Plaat is a clinical psychologist, columnist for Le Devoir, and author. She is also a Sessional Lecturer at the Centre for the Study of Contemporary Religion (CERC) at the Université de Sherbrooke, where she is pursuing her doctoral studies. In 2024, she published the essay Mourir de froid c’est beau c’est long c’est délicieux with the Presses de l’Université de Montréal. In 2023, she released the collection Chroniques d’une main tendue. Courtepointes et autres récits de soi with Somme toute/Le Devoir. Throughout her public interventions, she offers reflections that stand apart from dominant discourses tending to psychopathologize human states.…
