Jean-Francois Chicoine
Jean-François Chicoine is a pediatrician at Sainte-Justine University Hospital Center, associate professor in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Montreal, member of the Paris Medical Association, and scientific director of Le monde est ailleurs.
A clinician specializing in international health and a teacher passionate about the interface between culture and science, his career as an educator, author, and media host is complemented by his writing of essays such as Le bébé et l’eau du bain (2006), Une histoire de l’Histoire de Sainte-Justine (2024), Génération anxieuse – la préface (2025), and television documentaries, mostly on the health and rights of children and families. He can be heard regularly on Tout peut arriver on Radio Canada Première.
A great film buff, he has been on the editorial board of Séquences magazine, president of the jury for the Festival cinéma du monde de Sherbrooke, a member of the board of directors of the Cinéma du Musée in Montreal, and a script consultant for numerous productions, including several films by André Forcier.
With Un soir d’Équinoxe (2025) and Mourir en vie (2021), directed by Benoit Brière and filmed by Mario Janelle, he has now added screenwriting to his scientific and cultural career.
