Normandy, 1819. Barely out of the convent where she studied, Jeanne Le Perthuis des Vauds, a young woman too much protected and still full of her childhood dreams, marries Julien de Lamare. Very quickly, he turns out to be stingy, brutal and fickle. Jeanne’s illusions gradually begin to fly away.
