During a weekend in the countryside, Laura, a student in Berlin, miraculously survives a car accident. Physically unharmed but deeply shaken, she is taken in by Betty, who witnessed the crash and cares for her with affection. Gradually, Betty’s husband and son overcome their initial reluctance, and a sense of almost familial calm settles in. But soon, they can no longer ignore their past, and Laura must confront her own life.
