Matimekush is a village of 700 people located next to Schefferville. Situated north of the 55th parallel and inaccessible by road, it has welcomed members of the African community on its ancestral lands for over a decade. In this frozen desert stands Kanatamat School, where nearly the entire teaching staff comes from Africa. How can two peoples, seemingly worlds apart, come together through this new model? Despite many differences, both groups are brought together by a strong sense of community and by the striking similarities in the challenges they continue to face. With determination, African teachers strive to build meaningful and lasting relationships with their students, helping them stay on the right path while fully respecting their origins and culture. The documentary follows the often difficult development of these special connections, as each person seeks, in their own way, to overcome the traumas of their history.
