Produced by Christope Barratier (Les Choristes, Faubourg 36, La nouvelle guerre des boutons), The Outsider is an unprecedented immersion into the heart of one of the biggest financial scandals.

We all know Jérôme Kerviel, a 31-year-old market operator whose risk-taking could have seriously affect the Société Générale bank in 2008, and even the global financial system… Two years later, Kerviel was sentenced to five years in prison, including an unsuspended term of three years, and was ordered to pay the highest damages ever seen for an individual : 4.9 billion euros ! But what do we know about Jérôme ? … He joined the bank in 2000, but nobody could have predicted that the young Breton would managed to become trader 5 years later. And Jerome Kerviel earned his stripes and his place by learning fast. Really fast. Until the end of 2007, he was “a good winner”, “a crate-machine” – as his colleagues nicknamed him …
