Katherine, nageuse de compétition, doit réussir son standard afin d’accéder au championnat provincial. Avec la pression de son entourage, Kath remet en doute sa passion. Veut-elle continuer la natation? Veut-elle aller au championnat? Ce que ça vaut présente le questionnement identitaire d’une jeune adolescente. William Blanchet is a screenwriter and director. He was selected to participate at the Course des Régions 2009 and brought back the Kino movement in Estrie. He works as a swimming coach and has a bachelor degree in communication. His sport is creativity. He sees it as a way to surpass his capacity of coming up with new ideas and being more open-minded.

La nuit des Krampus

On an alpine winter night, Saint-Nicolas visits the children accompanied by frightening creatures, the Krampus. For centuries, these monsters have been responsible for disciplining children to ensure good behavior in the coming year. Is the Krampus good or bad? Holder of a Bachelor’s Degree in Communication (Film Major) from UQAM, Pierre-Yves Beaulieu then worked in multimedia. For a few years, he has lived as a digital nomad, traveling mainly throughout Europe and Asia. Inspired by his journeys, encounters and his curiosity for a variety of topics, he completed a Documentary program (Director’s Track) at INIS in 2017.

Mohamed is deeply shaken when his oldest son Malik returns home after a long journey with a mysterious new wife. Tension between father and son rises over three days until reaching a breaking point. Tunisian-American writer/director Meryam Joobeur is a graduate of Mel Hoppenheim School of Cinema in Montréal. She is currently developing three feature films including the feature version of ‘Brotherhood’ and has participated in the Berlinale Talent Lab (2016) TIFF Talent Lab (2016) and the Rawi Screenwriter’s Lab (2016).

Daniel is on a mission to scatter his mother’s ashes and Claude is hoping for her period to make a miraculous return. A modern tale that captures the fever dream of a first voyage to the moon. Canadian filmmaker based in Montreal (Quebec), Mélanie Charbonneau directs films, web series and commercials. Her last short film, Single, was selected in many festivals including Namur, Fantasia, Cambridge, Off-Courts Trouville and Bayou. In 2018, Mélanie will film her first feature, Fabulous, produced by Go Films.

Lola & Claire

FCTMN Award – Prends ça court! 2018 Lola & Claire tells the story of the unconditional love between Claire, a young woman living in a paralyzed body and Lola, her little sister.  One lives in immobility and the other in movement.  It’s Lola’s birthday and the young girl realizes that Claire’s days are numbered. She will do whatever it takes to free her big sister. Elisabeth Desbiens is a director based in Montreal. She studied dance and cinema. Her films have been selected in several festivals around the world, including SAPPORO in Japan, MashROME in Italy, Rendez-vous du Cinéma Québécois and Regard International Short Film Festival in Saguenay. She is the recipient of the SODEC / SARTEC Award for the adaptation of the poetry collection Était une bête in the screenwriting contest Cours écrire ton court.

Competing for the Cercle d’or Meilleur court métrage de l’Estrie (Best Short in the Eastern Townships award), presented by La Fabrique culturelle Josée Delorme has cerebral palsy. She communicates by fixing consecutively a color, a letter and a number on a board for each word that she wants to say. This documentary oversteps the boundaries of her disability to reach the real women inside. While being mainly director and actress, Nadia Fortin often takes the role of scriptwriter, editor and producer of her movies. She began her career by studying drama and also obtained a bachelor of social work degree. Sensitive to human beings, Nadia Fortin linked up these two assets to produce documentaries and fiction movies depicting essentially different kind of social problems.
