Come and celebrate the best of our Eastern Township’s creative talent! 6 shorts are in the running for the Prix-Pierre-Javaux Meilleur court métrage de l’Estrie (Best Eastern Townships Short Film). Not only will there be a question-and-answer session with the directors after the screening, but emotions will be flying high when the award is presented!

Oana Suteu Khintirian

Oana Suteu Khintirian is a director and media artist of Romanian-Armenian origin who has lived in Montreal since 1995. She studied filmmaking and, over the last 20 years, her dance films and documentaries have won awards at numerous international festivals. In addition to her work as a director, Oana has created installations and immersive environments shown at museums and galleries around the world. Beyond Paper, her first feature-length documentary, won the Golden Circle for Best Feature-length documentary at the FCMS in 2023. She is currently pursuing a PhD at Université de Montréal.

Alexis Thibault

Alexis Thibault is a cinephile since childhood when the go-to family leisure activity was renting a movie. Graduated from a Master of research in mental health and from a Bachelors degree in Psychology, he’s passionate about intrigues that make him think and which explore human vulnerability. Caring for FCMS’s mission, he was an attendee, an event host, a promotor and a collaborator of its activities. Today, he works in the domain of science communication as BistroBrain organization’s general manager.

Laurent Ulrich

A graduate of UQAM's École des médias in cinematography, Laurent Ulrich has been working in film and television since 2010. He left Montréal for the Eastern Townships in 2019. This allowed for a gentler and more fruitful life, full of new sources of inspiration. In Sherbrooke, he shoots short and feature-length fiction films, documentaries, adverts, and takes part in various projects as an instructor and head lighting technician. He is also a member of the band Eager Dance.

Jonathan Goyette

Jonathan Goyette graduated from INIS in documentary directing and scriptwriting and then made his way through the Kino movement. He has scripted, directed, edited, and self-produced several independent short films, some of which have been selected for festivals such as Cinéma sous les étoiles and Image et Nation. He is interested in the hybrid of cinematographic forms as a way of examining the relationship between humans and their environment. Kaléidoscope lyrique juxtaposes documentary and experimental images to let viewers experience the impact of nature on the imagination of the painter Jean-Paul Riopelle. Amandine Garrido has been working in the performing arts for several years as a dancer-performer, choreographer and teacher. She obtained her diploma in dance performance with training in classical and contemporary dance in 2002 (University of Chile) and worked for various contemporary companies in her country. With an extraordinary array of talents, she inspires people with her stage presence, versatility and fluidity of movement. She has been a member of the ZemmourBallet dance company since 2020 and was its artist-in-residence in 2022.
