IN COLLABORATION WITH THE BUREAU ESTRIEN DE L’AUDIOVISUEL ET DU MULTIMÉDIA (BEAM)

Film production in the Eastern Townships is more vigorous every year. How can we create a sustainable industry that will allow film professionals to work in a sustained manner? What are the critical elements of a vital sector that will facilitate the way for future productions? What factors contribute to the emergence, retention and attraction of talent in the Eastern Townships? We will discuss these issues with producers who are at the heart of the industry.

Marquise Lepage

Writer, director and producer of fiction and documentaries, Marquise Lepage has worked for several production companies, including Virage, ONF, Radio-Canada, CBC, and Pixcom. She now directs Les Productions du Cerf-Volant. Numerous awards, here and abroad, have recognized the excellence of his work. We owe her among others Of Hopscotch and Little Girls, Martha of the North, and The Forgotten Garden which have been distributed worldwide. The two most recent films she has produced and directed, One Night stand and Apapacho, have received acclaim from the press and audiences alike. She lives in Sherbrooke.

Sylvie Van Brabant is at the head of Productions du Rapide-Blanc since 1984, a company she cofounded with Serge Giguère, with a very clear mission: to seize the reality of important and relevant topics. This independent production company has become a platform for social, political and artistic works that are pertinent, eloquent and poetic, daring to tackle controversial issues as well as give the public films with deep cultural and social values.
