Panel discussion about adoption
hosted by Catherine Viau
Some realities from here and elsewhere impose seperations that disrupt the lives of children and parents.
Docteur Jean-François Chicoine, pediatrician specialized in international adoption and attachment issues, who is also great moviegoer, tell us about the possible life divides and the questions about child gifting, but also about abandonment, separation and attachment.
Stakeholders and experts will join him for this exchange:
• Dre Mélissa Généreux – Specialist doctor in public health and preventive medicine; Director of Santé publique de l’Estrie (Public Health for Estrie Region).
• Christine Labrie – Historian interested in women who entrusted a child in the years 1960-1970 in Quebec.
• Marion Dagen – Co-author with Xavier Marie Bonnot of “L’enfant et le dictateur”, a book telling the story and the context of her adoption.
• Alain Trudel – Director of Protection de la jeunesse (DPJ) de l’Estrie (youth Protection).
The themes discussed in this activity appear in several films of our programming. We have identified them under the section Enfances à coeur (Childhood at heart); especially the movie Notre enfant* and, following the Ciné-Échange, the movie La Villa (8:30 pm).
*Photo : The film Notre Enfant, from Diego Lerman, who is one of the main inspirations for the content of Ciné-Échange Enfances à coeur.
