Based in Quebec City, Martin Bureau develops a multidisciplinary artistic practice that combines documentary filmmaking, painting, and video installation. His films have been presented at around one hundred festivals and have received numerous nominations and awards, both at home and abroad. At the same time, his visual art has been exhibited in galleries, artist-run centres, biennials, and renowned museums in Canada and internationally, and is included in several public and private collections. Through his practice, Bureau articulates a critical perspective in which social, geopolitical, and environmental issues intersect, in a form he describes as a “poetics of disaster”.
