The Festival Cinéma du monde de Sherbrooke’s 9th edition came to an end with the announcement of the Cercle d’or Best Feature Film – Fiction and the Cercle d’or Best Feature Film – Documentary awards presented by TV5, as well as the Prix Coup de Coeur du public presented by Radio-Canada.
International Competition
The International Competition jury, chaired by Paul Tom and made up of Caroline Fontaine, Mathieu Gagnon, Véronique Vigneault and Samuel Hardeman, announced the winners of the 2022 edition at the closing ceremony:
The Cercle d’or Best Feature Film – Fiction was awarded to Gessica Geneus’ Freda.
The Cercle d’or Best Feature Film – Documentary, presented by TV5, was awarded to Dear Audrey, directed by Jeremiah Hayes.
The Jury also made special mention of the film Little Palestine, journal d’un siège, by Abdallah Al-Khatib.
Prix Coup de cœur du public presented by Radio-Canada
65 fiction films were elegible for Radio Canada’s Prix Coup de cœur du public. Festivalgoers voted for All My Puny Sorrows, by Michael McGowan as their favourite film.
