Alexis Martin
President of the jury
The actor, director, author and screenwriter, Alexis Martin, has worked in the artistic field in Quebec for over 25 years. Since his beginnings, he had nearly forty plays in Montreal theaters. He is also the co-artistic director of the Nouveau Théâtre Expérimental since 1999, where he experiments in writing, acting and directing.
Marie-Lou Béland
The 7th art is a real passion for Marie-Lou Béland who always has her camera with her. The video has become her shield, her megaphone, her lifeline and her weapon to try to improve our society. She got many courses in documentary and fiction cinema, and through her works, she wants to tell the story of the human journey and go through real emotions. Member of various associations such as ARRQ, Les Réalisatrices Equitables and Dames du Docs, she is also the winner of the Cercle d’Or award for the best short film of the Eastern Townships at the 2017 edition of the Festival.
Marquise Lepage
Writer, director and producer, Marquise Lepage has won numerous awards here in Quebec and abroad. She is known for her sensational documentaries, such as : Des marelles et des petites filles, Le jardin oublié or Martha qui vient du froid. She also signed four feature movies, including Ce qu’il ne faut pas dire (2015) which has been greeted by the press and the public. Odile Tremblay, said about her, in Le Devoir, that “she is an alchemist who transforms life into scenario and images. “
Mathieu Poulin-Lamarre
China is the research fieldwork of the college professor and native of SHerbrooke, Mathieu Poulin-Lamarre, who is specialized in Asian culture. For the past four years, he has also been involved in the Vietnam Internship Project from the Human Sciences Program of the Sherbrooke College. He has learned five languages thanks to his travels throughout the world. Cinema and litterature lover, works are for him like windows open to the world, which allow us to avoid the trap of exoticism, in which the Other is too often locked up.
Thomas Barbeau
Thomas Barbeau is a jury from public. He is a student in Arts, Literature and Communication at Cégep de Sherbrooke. For several years, he is interested in international cinema – both in form and content – and would like to choose this career for his university studies.
Regional competition
Within its annual programming, the FCMS presents the Projection of short films of Eastern Townships emphasizing several movies of the region having been selected by a jury. Among these movies, the jury awards the price Cercle Best short film of Eastern Townships.

Alain de Lafontaine
President of the jury
After working in the business community, as co-founder of Loubard and co-founder of Lafontaine Café in North Hatley, Alain de Lafontaine held the position of General and Artistic Director of the Granada Theater since 2003. With his team, he contributed to the revival of this historic place. Along with this, he created the Sherblues & Folk and was director of the cultural component of the 2013 Canada Games. He was also a member of the boards of Sherbrooke Cité des Rivières, the Estrie Cultural Council, the Coalition for Street Work. He was also a member of the Sherbrooke Culture Committee and Honorary President of the Tremplin’s Coup de Pouce campaign. Since 2017, he is the artistic director of the Granada Theater and also a columnist for Radio Canada for the program Ecoutez L’Estrie in link with his experience in the world of music. He is also dedicated to writing a novel to be published on the same topic!
Nicole Giguère
Nicole Giguère is an independent director, working mainly in documentary. Originally from Quebec City, she started with the group Vidéo Femmes in the 70s. Then, in Montreal, she made personal films and television series on different social and cultural topics. She is currently developing a feature-length documentary and a TV series. For the past 10 years, she has also been involved with Réalisatrices Equitables, who fight for a better representation of women in front of and behind the camera.

Pocket film Competition – School Tournament
The School Tournament (Tournoi des écoles) is a short film competition for all high school students from participating schools in Sherbrooke.
This is a great opportunity for young people to express their creativity through the seventh art, to initiate themselves and to discover new talent and interests.
