In the last quarter of the nineteenth century, three social-climber students settled in Lodz, the most important textile center in Europe, and dreams of money and speculation. They begin their apprenticeship in the hard and cruel school of the industrialists in place. This film is adapted from one of the greatest novels of Polish literature.
